Hey! I’m Lillian. This is the first post of my Pencil Princess blog. I plan to upload my artwork and drawings here. I enjoy character design and hope to pursue a career as a character designer.
Crafty B, a graphic designer and blogger also on WordPress, is my mom. Kudos to her for helping me design the Pencil Princess logo! The little dots in the text looked to me like eraser shavings, which I’m known for around my house. Anyway, Crafty helped introduce me to WordPress, and without her, I don’t think I would have started this blog.
At the middle school I attended, I was required to choose between pursuing music and pursuing art. I chose music, so other than the art classes I took in elementary school, I haven’t had any formal art classes. In high school I plan to shift my focus towards art so that I can improve the quality of my work. As of now, I’m inexperienced in most things other than drawing cartoon people, which is one of the reasons why I love character design so much.
When I’m not doing art, I love to watch TV, read comics, spend time with my family, and talk online with my friends. My interests include Super Mario, the original Naruto anime, YouTube, and drawing (obviously!). Comics that I read regularly are Gloomverse and Lucidia by The Crayon Queen, Danger Vision by Brandon Blackburn, Unfamiliar by Haley Mewsome, and xkcd by Randall Munroe. I enjoy listening to peaceful electronic music like TheFatRat and Owl City. I create traditional art using No. 2 pencils, ballpoint pens, Dollar Store art paper, and I will soon start using neon pens and watercolor pencils to color.
I also enjoy creating simple designs on the computer using programs like Google Draw and the Pixlr online image editor. My mom is in the process of teaching me more advanced programs like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Examples of designs I’ve created can be seen at my online store, “Pencil Princess Originals.” I occasionally update the store with new designs, and I own a Binary Love tee from my store. The store avatar is in the process of being updated, so there may be an outdated image displaying my old Google+ screen name.
I can’t wait to share my artwork and characters with you! Thank you for taking the time to read my first post as the Pencil Princess. Fare thee well, good Citizens!
